I’d forgotten how much I loved this book until I reread it on audio, and it gives me exactly high end champagne bubbles injected straight into your bloodstream feeling that is such a part of the Lauren Layne brand. This book was all of my rom com dreams come true! Stodgy lawyer hero and cheerfully optimistic heroine, enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, sickbed scenes, it had everything. Their hate starts out very real, or at least their disdain does, and their war is more icy and classy rather than the knockout drag out fights in hate to love romances that we’re used to. Because both of them are bougie and I love them for it. It was delightful, adorable, and I was thoroughly enchanted and left with a big goofy smile on my face!

I also found the flaws I overlooked the first time around on my reread, like Georgie’s insistence on changing Andrew’s outlook while he loves her as she is, but I don’t even care they’re that good together. Andrew’s hesitation and awkwardness around humans and specifically Georgie is so darn cute you want to just cuddle the man. Georgie is basically a Disney Princess come to life but without the harmful stereotypes. She’s Alexis Rose before I knew of Alexis Rose. Also, I’d definitely forgotten how freaking hot this book was. Andrew and Georgie’s love-hate chemistry leaps off the page and translates explosively into a steamy physical connection.
