Such a classic, light-hearted read. Definitely a nostalgic book that I love to come back to. The story is so sweet and a perfect little adventure.

I read the book for the first time as a child. There was something fascinating about the book even then. As a child, I only read this one part of the book series. The book stuck in my mind, even though I read hundreds of books a year. I dug the book out again as an adult and it spoke to me in a whole new way. The stars of the book are more due to childhood reading experience. Now, as an adult, I would have given maybe 3-4 stars. The book is very simple and clear, but the story still charms me. The extraordinary perspective on the circular economy, the family's survival in a difficult situation and the persistent moving forward speak to me so much that I will read the book again sometime.

Very slow paced, but was okay to read. Wouldn’t say it’s the best book out there.

This book is little and cute. The Clock family, Homily, Pod and Aritty have lived as Borrowers in the wall behind the wainscoting for all of young Arrity's life. But then a young boy comes to stay in the drafty old house, and everything changes.

I read this after finding out that the Secret World of Arrietty was based on this. I was hopeful that the book would have the same kind of whimsy but it fell a bit short for me. I imagine that I would have enjoyed it far more when I was younger.
