The Borrowers

Mary Norton

3.86 AVERAGE

Second only to Matilda.

2.5 Stars

It's a great initial concept. Little people living in houses. I just didn't love it. The borrowers were greedy little thieves and it got them in trouble. And the boy was showing serial killer tendencies.

The writing style was also hard. The sentences were hard to read in several instances.

I probably would have liked this more if I read it as a kid. Oh well.

I can't believe I haven't read this before now. I loved the story.

The borrowers live beneath the kitchen clock and use the things they are able to borrow from the household to furnish their cozy home. This is the adventurous story of their life in a house and the child who finds them.
