Rereading a childhood favorite as an adult is sometimes a gamble. Will it still be fun? Will it still enthrall? Worse - will it have aged horribly?
All of this to say this is still a favorite. And the very last sentence is pure gold. :)

A wonderful, magical read!
Read October 31, 2021 - January 8, 2022.
This was super cute! I originally started reading this because I dressed up as Arrietty for Halloween (the Ghibli adaptation version, though) and felt compelled to finally read the source material. I'm not sure why it took me so long to get through, because I really did enjoy it. And now I'm very glad I picked up the rest of the series at Value Village when I saw them a few months ago, so I can read them all! That cliffhanger's got me a bit upset, LOL.
The style this was written in was so... charming. More than once I felt like this would be the perfect book to read with a child before bed, and reminded me of doing just that with my mom when I was a kid. I think child me would have been obsessed with the idea of Borrowers, and I kind of wish I'd read this when I was younger. Guess I'll add it to a list of books to get for my children, if I ever have any

This is a lovely book. We read this as part of our homeschool and it opened up a world that is full of adventure and fun. I highly recommend this for all homeschool families.
Such a cute story and definitely ready to spark the imagination of a child!
It was ok. I didn't fall in love with the character names or the way the characters talked.
