This book transported me into another world! It was an alternate universe where things weren't as they seemed
I wasn't one of those lucky souls who got to read this in school. However, after reading this I can say this book holds a very special place in my heart. I loved it as much as I expected to. I can't imagine what it would be like to truly live in this type of world. Everything is so tightly controlled. Your career is picked for you, your family is picked for you. You can't ride a bicycle until you got to year nine, you take your pigtails out when you're told to. Even your death day is picked out for you. Being shielded from all the emotions, colors, anything that makes anyone different. It might all seem perfect to someone who doesn't think twice about it, but Jonas was given the opportunity to see it all for what it truly was. He had taken so many risks trying to show his two friends what kind of things they were living without, even Gabriel.

Now I see why this book is a classic. Great, interesting story. Really sucked me in and was intriguing the whole time. I'm interested to read the rest of the series. Definitely recommend.
