A solid book with a likeable lead character, decent plot and reasonable action. A relatively light read good for a quick mystery fix. The ending came a little quick but still a fine book.

I really liked this book. Roy’s character was funny and snark but was serious and driven to solve this mystery. Really excited to read the rest of the series and more from this author.

3.5 stars. Jim Rockford for modern times. Good story and characters.

A quick read; somewhat predictable but engaging enough to want to finish it.

I downloaded this book as it came up on my bookbub recommendations, I wasn't convinced it was for me at the time but decided to give it a go. I am very glad I did. This was a nice take on the amateur detective genre. The story was well written fast paced and held enough suspense to make you keep wanting to read just a little but more. There were actually two stories occurring alongside one another however the cross over doesn't become clear until the end and this element I felt was handled particularly well by the author.I particularly like the fact that the author didn't try and make Roy some kind of hero or incredibly flawed human being instead he was an average guy who had made a bad decision that changed the course of his life.

Don't let 2 stars fool you into thinking I didn't like this book. The writing is decent, and the protagonist's sense of humour is both refreshing and enjoyable. The story, however, is extremely disappointing. I found very little suspense or mystery, zero thrills, and the solution to be trite, simplistic and dull. The author has skill at depicting characters, but needs to put more effort into plot development. If he does so, I will happily read another of his novels.

This book is really boring. So boring! I don't know if it was the amount of surveillance or the slow pace, but this book didn't please me at all. Very little action in the end and there wasn't any climax or cliffhanger. It was really predictable.
