As the first book in the series, this one will definitely make you excited for more. Corey is such a great character, I love that she pushes through even though life has dealt her such a difficult journey. Hartley took a hot minute for me to trust but the way his character develops through the story, he really grows on you. I am such a sucker for a good series and the was Sarina writes bringing In characters we already know from other books just makes my heart soar!
helloooooooooo disability rep
this was very sweet. typical NA college romance blossoms between coeds but there was shared issue! Corey had a spinal cord injury and Hartley had a broken leg. both also love hockey.
there’s bonding, personal growth, and really sweet understanding. no slut shaming, nothing problematic at all imo. only complaint is that it wasn’t a real WOW for me. and the sex was ehhhhhhh. it was more love making and I prefer fucking whoops.
I would actually recommend this one ✌️

4.5 Stars~
I have really gotten into hockey books lately, and Sarina Bowen has a thing for writing them, so needless to say, I have read quite a few of her books. While The Year We Fell Down has a hockey element to it, it doesn't revolve around it, which was a nice change.
Corey had been a star on her high school hockey team, but a spinal injury leaves her unable to play, and wheelchair bound most of the time. When she goes away to college, she meets hockey star Adam Hartley, who is recovering from his own hockey injury and is out for the season. They form a bond over their love of hockey and living across the hall from each other.
This was a really great book. I loved the fact that the heroine had a disability, but handled it with such strength. I am looking forward to continuing with this series!

'Have I ever told you that you're beautiful?'
'Any time I offer you food.'
'Exactly. Gimme that.'
So this was underwhelming.
I liked the disability rep and getting awareness about her struggles. Otherwise, I don't know that I saw any kind of connection between Corey and Hartley, it's just Corey seeing him and deciding she was in love with him because he's pretty. There's no plot per say, we're just waiting around for Hartley to dump his snooty girlfriend. It lacked everything I liked in 'The Understatement of the Year".

Meh, I like sappy romance books, but man, this wasn't sappy enough to be some kind of good.

So this book was on my Amazon recommendation list for a very looooong time now.
but I read an other serie with handicapped characters and well I did not want to read more about it at that time. then there were other books to read and well I forgot about it.
As I was reading an other serie that I really like from Bowen I checked her books and realised that this was from her. So here I am reading the book.
and it is super great!!!
I am so glad I finally read it.
Yes, there is cheating in this book. but people that are like "if there is cheating I am not reading it" live in Lalaland. IMHO

The hero is just such a douchebag here, which I think sums up a lot of my issues with New Adult: the emotions run very high and yet the characters are acting like, well, college students. And guy who has sexual contact with his virginal female friend, who he kind of knows has a huge thing for him, despite the fact that he has a girlfriend, who he is dating for reasons that are also kind of mean to the girlfriend is not someone of whom I am supportive. I enjoy Sarina Bowen's writing a bunch but prefer her adult books.
