soooo this one is complicated because on one hand i loved the writing, i'm a huge sarina fan and i can't wait to read more of her stuff. on the other hand, the plot was kind of extremely lacking AND there's the whole cheating thing, which by the way, i never would have read this book had i known that there was cheating and i know a lot of other people feel the same SO i'm writing it here and i'm not putting it under spoiler. if you're mad about that, i don't really care because it's a major plot point and it's important to know about.

i won't really get into the cheating other than what i said so read at your own discretion i guess but what i will say about the plot is that there basically wasn't any. i'm usually fine with a bit of slice of life when it comes to my contemporary but there has to be a central plot to keep it going and it kind of wasn't there? i mean one could argue the plot is just corey getting to college and whatnot, but if that's what the plot was supposed to be then it was pretty damn boring.

i can't speak to the representation in this book either. i have seen some people say it was great and others say they didn't like it, so there is that. i will say that there are moments that seem (to me) to be pretty accurate for someone who is experiencing a great loss and who is grappling with that while also trying to live life like everything is fine and i actually really appreciated and related to some of those scenes in this novel.

tbh i don't really want to talk more about this book because the cheating pretty much ruined it for me, so i'll just leave you with what i've already written. i guess if you aren't bothered by cheating, maybe give this one a shot!

I probably would've read this book and actually enjoyed it say 4 years back but now I can't handle it.
The writing seems immature and I couldn't stand the hero/heroine.

Hopping on to the next one...hoping it's better.

Review:
This is one of those rare gems of a CR, where there really isn't much of any pointlessly petty drama. The romance is cute, sweet, and both Corey and Adam are great characters. The attraction goes beyond physical, and they have respect for each other.
Sure at first Adam is dating a shallow trophy girl, and while she is studying abroad flirting and kissing whomever she wants as they have "an arrangement", Adam(Hartley) keeps things fairly platonic with Corey(Corinne) even though they both feel an attraction to each other. Corey keeps things at arm's length because she still is recovering from her injury and doesn't feel like a full person yet, and is scared that her "broken" body won't be attractive to anybody, and Hartley keeps things that way the best he can because he's not the type to sleep around.
Their banter while playing Ice Hockey video games while they recovered from their separate injuries, a friendship where trust was built making it comfortable to talk about things turned into flirtation and a fierce attraction built on mutual respect. I actually believed they fell in love. It felt real.

I hope they are in future books, I'd like to see how their relationship grows and if Corey ever is able to have more mobility.

I don't know what, but something about this book just hit the right spot and the heroine was awesome.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed that! Female MCs who don't take crap from cute boys, or let them wallow in their own pile always make me smile.

My first foray into New Adult romance made for a quick, light read. What made the book stand out to me was Corey, the female protagonist, who uses a wheelchair and crutches for mobility after a serious hockey injury. The author did not treat Corey as an object of pity or as an inspirational cripple (I loathe that trope), rather as a young woman exploring college life and *gasp* having a sexual and romantic life.
