I don’t really know what to say. I liked the writing. I think the author captures the tween girl gang aspect really well. But it was a bit too… nothing for me.

The book was an interesting take on the group mentality of teenage girls while coming of age and recognising the dark aspects of society. However while the prose was enjoyable to read it did not allow for much character exploration and was difficult to follow at points when jumping between character POVs and time periods. The plot premise of the mysterious disappearance of Sammy told from the perspective of the girls was intriguing but ultimately fell flat, feeling like an afterthought for the majority of the book. The ending was confusing and unsatisfying. As other reviews have said a good book for vibes but not for plot.

o final ficou aquém. de resto, brilhante. retrato incrível do que é ser uma pré adolescente, do desejo de crescer, de ser vista como uma pessoa, escolhida. de serem aceites pela sociedade ao mesmo tempo que a repelem e vêem as suas hipocrisias. a raiva e tristeza que devem ser escondidas porque não isso que esperam delas. o desejo de ser consideradas bonitas e ser admiradas porque é isso que é incutido que devem ser e que se espera delas, apesar de só acontecer a algumas.
