I can not believe that I finished this book. I kept reading it hoping for something to happen or some compelling storyline to show itself, yet it never did. The characters where all completely insufferable. The only reason I continued reading was that the writing was actually quite rich. I really enjoyed 'The Privileges', but this one - belch. I wish I could have the few hours of my life back that I wasted reading it.

I like this guy's style. He doesn't presume this is the first book you've ever read about family and relationships, but cuts right to the chase, eliminating tedious details and keeping the dishy parts. His themes are art, advertising, self-image, power, jealousy- and imagination.
