I need these to be written/drawn faster!

The last volume in the series ended on a high note, with the introduction of the Whisperers, and I was eager to see where Kirkman was going to take that idea. With Rick and his group finally rebuilding their own civilization, it was good to see that they weren't without outside threats (disregarding the walkers, of course), and it was a new enough idea that he wasn't just bringing in another Negan or Governor.

Unfortunately, Kirkman really doesn't take this idea anywhere, so I was a little disappointed. On the other hand, it was refreshing to see that two separate groups in the world of The Walking Dead could exist without killing each other, and it's not like Kirkman didn't do anything with the idea. It's clear that there's going to be a divide in Rick's group over the circumstances that developed from their encounter with the Whisperers; I just wanted to see more done with the idea of the Whisperers themselves in regard to Rick and his group.

Maybe Kirkman will surprise me again. Maybe this will be another diversion down a road that I didn't see that will be just as satisfying as what I was hoping to see. It has happened before. All I know is I want to know more about the Whisperers, and the way this arc ends, I think I'll be getting my wish.

I loved that we know a little bit better the new group but I kinda hate Carl so it was painful to read about him ...
adventurous dark tense fast-paced

How good this has gotten shows how really solid the time jump was and how well it has served the narrative overall. Over the course of this volume we get more insight into the situation with the whisperers, have more of the traditional Walking Dead internal/external threats, and on and on.

The way everything is going with this has really made Walking Dead a must-read again, and that's saying something.

5/5

Aww poor Lydia. Now I have to say Carl and Sophia is my youngster ship so back off Lydia but I feel for her but also think she got ulterior motives

There is some weird shit happening now ...

It always feels like Kirkman is setting up something big which can be exciting but also exhausting. It's like being forced to hold your breath and you're only allowed a quick gasp every hour or so.

This volume is A LOT of Carl and A LOT of Maggie which I found somewhat refreshing. I love Rick but I needed a change. The new group (Whisperers?) are very interesting. Plus this volume has the honor of giving us the most disgusting image I have ever seen in 22 volumes of zombie violence...

Sexy? No. No, it's not.
