I enjoyed this one, although I'm not sure if I enjoy Lydia as a character. Her backstory is very sad, but I still think Carl was trying to help her too quickly. I wouldn't except the hardened, cold character that's been building for 20-plus volumes to suddenly flip to trusting her so quickly. Obviously, he's a teenager and that's playing into it, but still...not sure how I feel.

The choice to slowly shift focus from Rick to the other characters is an interesting one, and ultimately I think it helps the story. Seeing what the larger community is like makes the world feel more lived-in and real, as opposed to a tight, first-person POV where only Rick and his immediate group matter.

Another awesome book in this incredible series of graphic novels.
I won't spoil any fans who haven't read this book yet, but all I can say is WOW.

Another great read. I just can't get enough of this series. It's so good.

With only 9 volumes left I'm starting to miss it already.

Story-wise, very similar to the last volume. The communities continue at peace but something is coming on the horizon.

More of a 2.5 star rating. I certainly wanted to like this more than I did. After Vol. 22 we can see that Rick Grimes is slowly being phased out, and his son's story is coming to the forefront. I thought this would be an exciting development since we've watched Carl's character grow so much over the many issues. I thought that they would be showing how the children are vastly different than their parents because they've grown up in this harsh and unforgiving world. Instead I was treated to a story about a boy doing anything to get a girlfriend.

It's an alright set of three stories if you're a fan of the series in general, but I honestly feel that they aren't sustaining what made Carl such an interesting character. His decisions seem irrational, trying desperately to please a character we just met. The character of Lydia also seems like it was designed solely to shock us with her backstory. It seems like the Walking Dead may have run out of interesting stories to tell, and much like the TV series is set on a repeat of sad backstory then shock value. I hope that the series picks up soon and soars back to its original heights.

This volume was the reason behind that I started to read the series, I assumed- from the reviews- that somehow the zombies will begin to talk or gain some consciousness. It was a bit disappointing :D but in general I liked the series and thankful for not watching the Tv show. Moreover this series need a diffrent network like HBO or Netflix, than AMC, and if other network in future decided to produce the series I will give it a chance and watch it.

I was happy to learn more about the new group. The members of this group are very intriguing and have a very different view of life than we are used to with the previous groups. This book highlights Carl's life, it's not the best comic I've read, but it's not the worst either. There was not much action going on so there were some lengths.
