An excellent look beyond the scenes of the filming of one of the best loved find of all time. Wonderful stories, some tear jerkers, and eye opening bits about how some of the best loved moments came to be. If you loved the film and have not read this, you need to.

“As you wish”… be still my heart ❤️ I didn’t see The Princess Bride until Spring 1998 in my high school senior English class. My fabulous AP English teacher used the movie as our final exam… and we were to use the critical evaluation techniques we’d learn led throughout the year to analyze the movie. Even those of us that exempted out of the final, still took it just to watch the movie (and get extra credit). I have loved The Princess Bride and Cary Elwes ever since. It’s a movie that has only gotten better as I’ve aged and can better appreciate the depth and humor. Listening to Cary narrate his memoir of making the movie, his spot-on Rob Reiner impression, clear love of and devotion to Robin Wright and Andre the Giant, and fanboy of Billy Crystal and Mandy Patinkin… it was beautiful. If you are a fan of the movie… I absolutely recommend listening to this!

This book really shines a light on what it is that made "The Princess Bride" such an enduring film, the heart and love of the people who made it. It was wonderfully inspiring to read how much everyone loved the book who worked on this film, and felt compelled to make a movie that would do the source material justice. Obviously, the point of view focuses on Elwes's own experiences, but the asides with comments from others involved with the film makes it a great well-rounded read.

For lovers of the movie and the book, this is a light, fun romp, that like "The Princess Bride" is part comedy, part adventure, and all about the twu wuv of it's story. :)
