This was a good time. Elwes' voice throughout is very clear and comedic. I enjoyed learning different stories about the making of this movie and how they achieved certain effects. Each chapter was very well organized, and never once did I feel it was a slog to read. That being said, I love both the Princess Bride book and movie, so I may be a little biased. 100% recommend the audiobook. Elwes did a fantastic job reading it, and the guest narrators were a real treat.

I adored it :) Already a fan and grew up with Rob Reiner, so this was a very pleasant read for me. I read the DRC, so I am assuming all the apparent jumping around was actually more of inserted paragraphs, that i could not quite envision in the uncorrected proof. Thoroughly enjoyable for the new or longtime fan. No sooner did i finish it, than the movie came on! I immediately began looking for the things they talked about ;)

I read this book for the 2025 Book Riot's Read Harder challenge prompt #7 Read a book about a piece of media you love (a TV show, a movie, a band, etc.).

This audiobook brought back so many memories. The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies, and at one time I had over 90% of the movie memorized. This memoir was very sweet and had some very funny and interesting moments. I think listening to it made all the difference. Although I would have enjoyed reading a print version, listening to Cary Elwes read the book and hearing excerpts from some of the other actors really made a difference. I actually re-watched the movie last night to catch some of the details he mentioned in the book. If you're a fan of the movie I think you'll really enjoy this book.

I really ought to get around to reading the actual Princess Bride book that’s sitting on my shelf…

I love the movie. When I saw this behind the scenes memoirs available to read, I jumped at the chance to read it! Seeing thoughts and things that went on behind the scenes always make the movies and TV shows I love that much more real.

Cary Elwes, with help from his co-stars and others on set, weaves a tale that makes you feel you were on the set filming this remarkable movie. I had several laugh out loud moments that I had to share with my husband and children as I read through. So much so that we sat down to watch the movie after I finished reading.

As my 7-year-old joined us to watch the movie and I shared behind the scenes tidbits as the movie went on, her eyes lit up and she enjoyed the movie all the more with us. So much so that she's asked me to buy the original novel to read to her.
