I will admit that I am not a huge fan of the movie The Princess Bride. However, I really enjoyed the book! I thought it was quite funny and thought the story was much better in novel form than on screen. I read this memoir because my online book club was recommending it. It was ok! Nothing spectacular, but I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more had I fallen in love with the movie. Worth a read, just not memorable (for me).

Yesssssssss Who WASN'T in love with Cary Elwes in the 80s/90s???
This is also just a wonderful book. The movie is so magical, it's nice to see that filming it was about as great an experience as watching it!

I read this book as an audiobook while I the morning. It is exactly what I expected. It would be. It is funny. It is reflective. It reminds me of the very first time I saw this movie and it does inspire me to watch the movie over and over again What a wonderful masterpiece and now that I know some of the backstory it’s even more special. This book is definitely worth a read. Don’t go into it expecting literature, but expect memories good feelings, and interesting stories to wash over you.

I loved this book!! The Princess Bride (the book) is one of my very favorite books and I grew up on the movie and could probably quote the entire movie. Reading this was in a word, delightful. It was so fun to learn about the behind the scenes and the backgrounds of each of the actors, the filming locations, the director, the script etc. For any film enthusiast and Westley lover out there, a must read.

Love the movie, so I'm sure other fans will pick this up too, as well they should. I wouldn't call myself a diehard fan, though I've seen the movie more times than I can count. That being said, I enjoyed this book, though I didn't really learn anything that I didn't know before.

A section of photos from the set are included and for any readers wondering if you get a sense of Elwes' voice coming through the ghost writer, the answer is yes. The writing had sections that got on my nerves with its gushy actor-speak in which Elwes referred to each and every person involved with the movie as remarkable, talented, and so on and so forth many times over.

Still, it's a quick read and sure to meet fans' expectations.

lil back-patting at times, but neat to hear about the behind the scenes nonsense and to hear cary's impressions
