It was good, but it left me wanting so much more. Really strong opening, part one was great, then it kind of fizzled out. I think there was too much going on, so each subplot had small chunks and it was difficult to determine was the main plot was.
Spoiler
I hated how the ending was tied up so quickly. No real confrontation. And someone as rich and powerful as Chayefsky wouldn't give up that easily.
I think this is the first 1 star I've given since I started recording my books on Goodreads. It's certainly the first 1 star I've given James Patterson. I like Michael Bennett and I like his crazy family, but that was not enough alone to make me like the book. The plot didn't grab me, maybe because it was jumping around from one plot ( fixing the no hope police dept he was sent to, which would have been enough on it's own), to suddenly being the lead on a jewellery heist, to cannibals. It took ages for the story to get anywhere, and then it ended incredibly suddenly, and never explained anything. I had to re read the last chapter because I thought there was a section missing. Very disappointed.

So good.. until the last chapter. I don't like it when things just tidy up like that. All the investigation, pursuit.. such a letdown. I do love the multiple plots and twists, especially from the unexpected trial in this book.
Quick, fun read as most of James Patterson's are these days. My problem was with the ending. It felt like the authors suddenly reached the maximum word limit or the time limit so just hurriedly finished the story rather than truly resolving it. Otherwise, good story.
