I was struggling to get into this book because the author’s writing style is tell, not show, so I could never get immersed in the story. Then, I know it seems small, but I was already not that into the story, and then when I read the part where the author has a Chris Brown song referenced and danced to - in a book where the FMC has suffered severe domestic violence, it was my cue to DNF it.

I did like this author’s Brittle Heart duet, but this series isn’t my cup of tea.
