I listened to the audiobook of this classic when reading for the first time, and I really enjoyed it. I did feel the beginning had a lot of repeat introspection by the narrator that I got sick of, but ultimately it all built up so well to the climax and then conclusion. Definitely an interesting view into the psychology of the whole thing, and I found my own views of the characters so skewed by the narrator. Definitely so well written and really haunting - the kind that must be discussed after! I’d say it’s worthy of being a classic.

Rewrote my brain chemistry. I thought all of the characters were lovable and relatable in their own way but that's probably a sign of mental illness!!! 10/10 because it's the only book to contain my queen Beatrice Lacy.

yeah, I would not call it romantic, but I enjoyed it. These old write authors always hit you with the casual racism.

This one took me a couple of chapters before I got sucked into it, but wow, what a haunting, clever, gothic story.

The fact that the MC is never given a name really added to the story and the ending had me 🤯 👀

Note: There were a couple of problematic scenes, which I guess at the time wouldn’t have come across that way, but were cringe and uncomfortable to read in the modern day.
