The ending of this book was a shocker! (I won't actually go into detail, because I don't want to ruin it for anybody.) But it was not what I was expecting at all. It makes me interested to see how the story will continue in book four!

This book was so deliciously addicting, I couldn't put it down. The Luxe series seems to get better with each book, as this one is currently my favorite in the series - I really liked the time spent with all the main characters, even the ones you love to hate. And I am of course on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the next book in this series, Splendor (release date unknown).

Honestly, I really like this series. The covers are always beautiful and the story line is your basic love triangle-ish story lines but what makes it interesting is all the twist and turns in the plot. I, being a major history lover, do also like this story to the fact they are set in 1899 New York which is a really good time in history filled with debutantes, big parties, fancy clothing, and rich living styles

Not exactly a spoiler...

I could not get into this book. Everything kept getting worse and worse for all the characters. There were only snatches of hope, like a quick glimpse, before that chance was taken away too. I don't mind books where the characters struggle, but there has to be some hope that eventually things might get better.

Review from 2018:
This book was a little slow moving. The whole gang: Diana, Penelope, Lina, Elizabeth, Henry, Teddy, Grayson, and Leland all go to Florida. And its just all kind of boring. Penelope schemes, Elizabeth hides from the sun, the guys play cards, and Lina is a tediously boring character. Carolina has a forced romance with Leland and by halfway through, I struggled to read her parts because she’s underdeveloped and obsessed with money. BUT THE END MAKES UP FOR EVERYTHING. The ending of this book will make you want to read the next one right away. It took me so off guard, it was amazing.

2022 Update:
Upon reread, I find this book to be very captivating. There’s something very refreshing about a change of pace and without the watchful eyes of Manhattan, the characters are a little freer to be their true selves. I still find Lina/Carolina to be more of an annoyance than anything however seeing how people enter society is fascinating and her relationship with Longhorn was more interesting the second go-round.
Changed rating to 5 stars.

The name of this book was chose very wisely. The fact that Diana tried to make Henry envious by being flirtatious with Grayson kind of infuriated me, but it very well corresponded to the name of the book which was Envy. Envy and Rumors were the only titles of the four books in the Luxe series that made sense with the story. Other than Splendor, I thoroughly enjoyed this series and Envy was probably my second favorite.

I loved this book, but it was 'eh' at some parts. Where as the first two books had me on my toes the whole time. I would have liked too see more Elizabeth and Teddy. They are so cute! Less Lina as well . . . But that is my personal opinion.

Enjoyed it but can't see how things will be tied up in Splendor.
