The "Transparent" prose Sanderson uses really drags this book. There just is not enough happening in it to keep the reader engaged. Vin gets dull and the cast of characters is way too small for this book's length. The world is boring and not really explored at a good pace. Allomancy is the only thing holding this book up. The scenes that it is used in are fun and creative, especially the action scenes with Kelsier. Yet this book just does not move fast enough and is CONSTANTLY stating the obvious.

Mistborn had a unique magic system and an intriguing world, but it felt mid to me. The pacing dragged with overly long explanations, while the climax, though exciting, ended too swiftly to feel truly satisfying. Still, it’s worth reading for its originality and strong concept. I’m not sure I’ll be continuing the series as this ends and feels more like a stand alone and the sneak preview of the second book did little to entice me to pick up another 500+ pages
