It took me a while to get into this book, but once I was in I was hooked. The magic system is really cool, and I feel like it is going to be built on in the next books. I liked how lots of questions were answered, but so many questions still remain.

Thorough worldbuilding, intricate story, and a cast of diverse yet unforgettable characters. The book reveals every facet of the effort to rebel against the Lord Ruler, flaws and all, creating a wonderful build. My only gripe with this book is that I wish Sanderson would have taken a deeper and more complex approach to characterization. However, that would have made the 645-page book longer, so ¯\_(ツ)_/.

Made me cry the first and second time reading it. This book has everything: a heist, romance, politics, people fighting for a better life in a world with extreme climate change and heartless aristocrats, a flawed protagonist that you can’t help loving, and so much more.

Everyone talks about the magic system for a reason - it is unique and extremely fleshed out. This is a gem. Don’t let my star rating fool you, I loved this book.
Sanderson’s writing is extremely accessible for everyone. His prose and dialogue can come off as YA, but the worldbuilding, setting, and plot are excellent (where his writing lacks, it’s made up for and then some). You root for the characters, you’re immersed in this very strange world and cannot seem to put it down.
