Not very engaging, more like a long statement of facts and ideas. The mystery was good, but this didn’t draw me in. I didn’t feel like I really cared what the outcome was, which made the ending unsatisfying even though it was a surprise. I’m not sure why Agatha Christie is so famous. I think maybe the pickings for mystery fiction just must have been slim in the 1950’s.

The final chapter was a bit too predictable. This didn't really have the wow factor. I enjoy Agatha Christie's books so much coz of her ability to always make a fool out of me. But this time, I think it was pretty obvious.

Gwenda and Giles were a nice, young couple. Both of them were intrigued, bothered and responsible. When one of them was lacking the other made up for them.

This was my first Miss Jane Marple book and I wasn't disappointed. She wasn't as hands on as Hercule Poiro, but Ig tagts alright. Coz if not then both the series would feel too similar.

I appreciate that the story picked off at the beginning itself, without making me wait. But I'd have appreciated it more if there were more bread crumbs along the way. More things happening— something or the other constantly happening to keep me invested.

There also weren't enough twists and turns. I'd say this was an overall predictable book, which makes it below average in terms of a mystery novel. But as just a novel, it's pretty okayish.

There were three main suspects, and not too many side characters. Which kept the story streamlined and easy to grasp. I'd say that when it comes to this book, that was a good thing.

I really should have checked the order of the books properly before embarking on this reading of Miss Marple, because now I've jumped from number 3 to number 12...but perhaps it was a good thing, because after 3 books where there was very little Miss Marple, this one finally had a pleasing amount!  It's an unsettling story, and I was guessing wildly at the end as to who had done it.  No knitting this time, but Miss Marple saves the day!

Review of ‘Sleeping Murder’-
I would give it 3⭐️
————————————-
The story begins with Gwenda Reed, 21, from New Zealand, looking for a house in the south of England. After searching for a while, she finally found a house and she was sure that it was the house of her dreams. Her husband was still in the New Zealand and was about to come to England within 6 weeks, till then Gwenda hires househelp, garderner, and other servets. But after 2 days, she gets to know more about the house, once there was a door but now it was plastered over, she also finds a hidden cabinet in her room, she feels something is fishy but still was reluctant to know more about that, but after a few days she started hallucinating that someone was in her house, someone murdered a person. While explaining this to a friend, she meets famous detective Miss Jane Marple. What happens next? Did they find who was murdered? Or was it all just hallucination?

Good things- I think this books is beginner friendly, language is easier. The main characters are from New Zealand , which we don’t see often.

Could have been better- this book was predictable according to me but the way the suspense is revealed was underwhelming, could be more dramatical. There are wayyyy too many characters, which are irrelevant sometimes. Also, it’s not entirely ‘Miss Marple mystery’ but she was helping Mr. And Mrs. Reed, most of the time she wasn’t with them and she comes at the end to reveal everything, which makes me wonder, if she even had a slighest idea of what’s coming next (which she had sometimes), she could have prevented some unnecessary events. But nevertheless, it was a good but underwhelming, a little slow paced book.

Ich glaube, das war das spannendste Miss Marple Buch, was ich jemals gelesen hab
Es war aber auch irgendwie das gruseligste
