I was thinking that you'd never want to be friends with Miss Marple—she's a septuagenarian gossip, a bitch, and her misanthropic attitude is rather objectionable.

Then I realized she's exactly my kind of people to smoke fags and glug coffee with. So I guess if I turn up dead, I've got a pack of belligerent sleuths at the ready.

This is in my top three Miss Marple series. I liked the characters, and the mystery was interesting. It's much different from the tv series adaptation that I've seen, so it felt fresh and new. I might like the adaptation a bit more because of the central love story and a clever bit of deception, but the novel is good in its own right.
