Agatha Christie is always a fun, easy read. I tend to enjoy her Miss Marple books, especially her short stories. Miss Marple is a fascinating woman, so unobtrusive yet such a force to be reckoned with. I love that she is almost a side note in this book. Most of the time she is simply pushing the Reeds in the proper direction. Overall, this is a fun book to read and Christie manages, yet again, to make me overlook the too simple (or coincidental) explanations so I can keep on reading. The only fault I found with this novel was that one suspect was not given enough of the obvious attention he deserved.
This mystery was published posthumously as the last of the Miss Marple series(although thought o have been written during WW2). It keeps to the general outline of an Agatha Christie mystery without standing out as exceptional (as Murder on the Oreint Express or And Then There Were None.) Enjoyable and readable in one day (weekend day of course!) I did predict the murderer about half way thorugh which is dissapointing but also satisfying.

"Helen was sorry for him or fell in love with him. He was lonely, or fell in love with her. Difficult to know just the way things happen."
As with all the Miss Marples, this is a really solid mystery with just the absolute best vibes and such an interesting cast of characters. I did work out who the killer was, which I don't usually, but not that long before it was revealed and I was still so invested in how everything was going to play out.
I will say that I was disappointed that this wasn't a proper 'ending' to the Miss Marple series, as I didn't realise going into it that although it was published last it was actually written and likely set much earlier, but that's a me issue rather than a book issue - just one to be aware of!
