I really liked this one. It's a good mix of humor and action.

After reading Avengers Disassembled, this seemed the right comic to continue with. I actually really liked the way they deal with the aftermath of the previous Avengers, the way they set up a new team and their first adventure seems a great setup for the rest of the series. Will continue with Volume 2.

I really hate the Savage Lands. Is that place ever interesting?

Seguimos.

I loved the premise of the super-villain prison break, and the early introduction of Electro, where he asks himself, "Costume or no costume?" and answers himself in this panel: description
But I had trouble getting over the fact that the assembled team of Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Luke Cage, and, later, Wolverine (also possibly Daredevil in the future?), while both interesting in some cases and popular in others, is not well balanced as a superhero group from a tactical standpoint, first and foremost as most of them cannot fly. So this entire comic does seem like a bit of fanboy service as opposed to a sensible answer to the disbanding of the actual Avengers.

That said, I'll still read onto the next one, [b:The New Avengers, Vol. 2: Sentry|105910|The New Avengers, Vol. 2 Sentry|Brian Michael Bendis|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1317302961s/105910.jpg|102091], just to see how the group evolves and how they resolve the Sentry plot-line.

I don't know why the old Avengers " Disassembled" but I quite enjoyed the assembling of these new Avengers, especially because characters like Luke Cage are new to me, and I want to get to know Spider-Woman better. It's just the start but it was alright, hopefully it'll get more interesting because it sets up some conspiracy stuff! I'm looking forward to seeing how Captain America and Wolverine will work together.

I originally picked this up to find out what the "New Avengers" were all about before I read the Fear Itself: New Avengers comics. Unfortunately there have been at least 2 "New Avengers" series'. This one is from 2006 and the one connected to Fear Itself is from 2011 and part of the Heroic Age thing.

Anyway, not bad at all, kind of strange that it starts off with a "breakout" on the Raft, which is the same thing that happens in Fear Itself AND that Luke Cage just happens to be there both times. S.H.I.E.L.D is seeming especially shady in this one and I wouldn't be surprised to see some helicarriers blowing up in the next graphic novel. Also very curious if the Sentry will be making a reappearance.
