Immersive and action packed read. Didn't care too much about the murder mystery aspect of it. Too violent for me. But Cosby does a very good job and creating a tense atmosphere. Best of the book for me were the topics of race, gender, and sexuality. The character development was really good.

This book is so freaking good it made me cry like a baby. Ike and Buddy Lee just lost their sons who were married to each other. They main characters are the dads as they grief their boys and the strained relationship they had once they found out they were gay. In this book we follow their journey; who killed their sons? Why? And nothing stops them in their quest for blood for blood.
The story has a bit of found family trope in its thrilling, action packed fiction, and it perfectly portrays the mindset of the homophobic and bigoted views that are relevant to this day. Ike and Buddy Lee struggle coming to terms with the 'love is love' of it all but by the end, the amount of character development they go through is astounding.
The only reason this book foesnt get the 5/5 star ranking is because I could predict who the bad guy was from the second mention of him. Other than that, this is a book i would recommend to all who love to experience emotional whiplash, LGBTQ+ struggle awareness, and find justice in vengeance. Even the ones drenched in blood.
