The end of Part 1 was a wild ride. I have some problems with it (mostly just characters getting added just to be there only for a short period of time), but other than that it as really good. Honestly I think in all of part 1, I thought that this would be my favourite volume, and I think theres just something about how wild the first volume was that makes me love it a tad bit more. Regardless, the conclusion of Jonathan and Dio's story was phenomenal and was so fun to return to. The ending never fails to shock me at how fast things end in this part, but it was definitely worth the read.
I feel like this is more of a 4.75? (But really what does that kind of decimal of a score even mean) so its a 5 star once again!

Finally finished Part 1!

Gotta say took me very long because it started off where it left off at the end of volume 2– AKA on a very lengthy battle with Blueford that I honestly wasn’t very into. Thus, I put off reading this but once I actually got past that, it was a fun read.

What’s cool about Jojo battles is they’re often fought very creatively because the characters they face are so strong. So even though they themselves have considerable strength, they still gotta keep their wits about them which makes for interesting fights!

I definitely enjoyed mostly the backstories, each character has a lot of resolve and it’s cool to see how they’ve built up to that point. Even for characters like Poco who’s very cowardly, with the glimpse into his past you get to understand his next actions.

Something I thought was cool was that the author talked about making Dio a villain who has a sick way of controlling his victims, and honestly that worked really well. I mean, two of the Dio scenes that popped out to me the most were exactly that, his cruelty by controlling or influencing his victims with fear.

I don’t know if I’ll continue with the manga but it was good! May watch the anime. Oh, and minus points because what in the world was the dog with a human face, I hate it.

A good bitter-sweet and tragic end to this first part. Even more so once you cone to part three. I found it well done and I liked how it ended. I liked Johnathan Joestar as a character, who was filled with honour and integrity, the most organic and manliest gentleman you could ever read about. Who is the epitome of tragedy, who only had short moments of happiness which was all stolen by Dio Brando, who is the best example of how even the known can be just as terrifying as the known. This truly was a good story and a brilliant first chapter to this bizarre journey that I'm embarking on.
I know that Johnathan Joestar isn't everybody's favourite JoJo, nor is he mine but his compelling personality (and because I have a soft spot for heartbreaks) he has to be me second favourite.
