This is my first review for 2018, and I have to say I chose a great novel to start off with. Sarah Dessen's YA novel Once and for All tackles everything from first love, second chances, and death. Main character Louna, is a cynical young woman who believes that you only get one shot at true love. Her shot was her last boyfriend, Ethan. Believing no one will ever compare to the love she had with Ethan, Louna closes herself off to dating, putting all of her focus into school and helping to assist her mother in her wedding planning business. That is, until she meets the happy-go-lucky Ambrose. Ambrose is a flirtatious serial dater who isn't interested in committing to anyone anytime soon. Unable to accept her viewpoint on love, Ambrose bets Louna to become a serial dater like him. In return, she bets Ambrose to commit to just one girl. Louna is determined to win this bet. However, the bet might not be as easy to achieve as the two think. The two start to fall for each other until Ambrose discovers the true reason behind Louna's views on relationships.
This was a great novel that showed not only the build of relationships between two young couples, but the adults in her life. It also showed the reality of what is left behind after the tragedies of school shootings, and how one character that seemed so sociable, was actually very alone.

I am so thankful to have received a digital ARC through NetGalley
I was so SO excited to read this book, as I am a huge fan of Sarah Dessen, and have been reading her books since I was in junior high. I didn’t think anything was ever going to top Just Listen for me, but Once and for All just blew that theory out of the water.
Once and for All tells the story of Louna, who helps her mom run her successful wedding planning business, who gets stuck putting up with Ambrose, the brother to one of her mom’s high profile brides. Ambrose is one of my favourite Sarah Dessen characters ever. Yes he is annoying, but he knows he is annoying, and he just works so well with the story. He is such an endearing and charming character that you can’t help but like him. He is the perfect counterpart for serious, guarded, and cynical Louna. Their chemistry literally sizzles off of the page, as cheesy as that sounds.
This book was just so well written, and I will gladly sing the praises of Sarah Dessen again, as this was just such a well written story. Told in both the present and flashbacks, Dessen did an amazing job of drawing readers in and keeping them hooked. I literally could not stop reading this book.

I thought this would be cuter and more exciting :/ By the end of the book I felt like nothing significant really happened???
Maybe I’m just not the target audience for this book? The characters are fresh out of high school so maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised at how immature some of the story felt. Ambrose was not my favorite, and so much of the book felt like a slog. We don’t get to see much happy throughout the whole book, so it ended up being quite a downer.
I received this book for free from Penguin Young Readers Group via (NetGalley) in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.**
Time after time, Sarah Dessen produces a solid novel with a timeless story. Once and for All is no different. While Louna's upbringing is a little different than most, her experience with love and loss are so similar to our own. She's relatable and readers will love her. Dessen manages to annoy the reader with the male lead, Ambrose, a few pages in and then takes on the challenge of making the reader fall in love with him. She succeeds. As always, Dessen includes a cast of quirky and lovable secondary characters, such as Louna's best friend Jilly, which rounds out the story. Once and For All will not disappoint Dessen fans.

This was a fun summer read. It's Sarah Dessen and I'm a fan of her books so I liked it. It's a fun story and I enjoyed it. I wasn't as invested in Louna and Ambrose's story. They were good characters, not great. This wasn't my first time reading it but I still enjoyed it.

This is the second time I read this book, I didn't love it as much this time. I l love Ambrose, I think that was my major problem this time through not enough Ambrose. It's Sarah dessen so it's beautiful and an important story but it's not my favorite of hers. I do love a happy ending though.
Book 22: A Book with an Upside Down Image on the Cover
This book was just okay for me. I’ve been a Sarah Dessen fan since middle school and as I get older I realize how formulaic her books are. The characters and side plots, as opposed to the main plot (which is always the same), are what make some of her books better than others. The end of this one had the opportunity to be very shocking and different for her but she played it safe. Overall an okay read but I would not consider it one of her best.

My biggest issues with this book came with the characters and just what Dessen highlighted. I didn't really like the way things were wrapped up in the end, and cared way more about Ethan over Ambrose throughout it ALL.
