I had high hopes for the book but something about it made it hard to finish. Not sure if I’m just older and teen love is not as interesting for me but this book seemed so rushed? Almost everyone in the book comes across as a bad person and they never redeem themselves, except for Ethan. We love a king who tries to talk down a school shooter.

Lu literally cheated on her boyfriend while he was waiting at home for her birthday surprise and brushed it off like hopefully he’ll forgive me lol
Jilly was a shitty friend who was like ya I have a man now i don’t want to hang out with you, and also I don’t like your boyfriend.
Like what is that

And as much as I wanted to like Ambrose he had NO character development. He just was a player one day and then randomly not? If he was interested in lu from the beginning why was he still dating?? It makes no sense.

I feel like it had such potential but the book was rushed and focused on the wrong points. I know more about wedding planning than anything now.

School shootings as romantic trauma seems exploitative and tone deaf. Ambrose was an idiot, but I liked the wedding stories and William.

I’ve read a lot of Sarah Dessen books over the years, and this is definitely not one of my favourites. I found Louna a bit bland of a main character. I hated how
Jilly was constantly trying to get Louna to date, even though it’s so clear that Louna is continuing to grieve the loss of Ethan. To me, the loss of a loved one is not something you can just stop feeling, especially not in a matter of months.
. I feel like I would’ve enjoyed getting to read more about the interactions between Ambrose and Louna, and less about the intricacies of the different weddings and brides. Finally, I wish
the story would’ve continued from the car accident and included more about Louna returning to her birthday party with Ambrose.
. I think Dessen took the easy way out of communicating this conflict/drama.
