This is so beautifully written. Second book in the Singing Hills Cycle, still following Chih, the cleric as they gather stories of the realm, this time encountering tigers on the road and needing to recite a tiger's story for the chance to not get eaten.

Like the first book, this was dreamy and kind of cozy despite there being horror elements in the story-within-a-story. The writing is gorgeous, the world building is amazing, I loved the characters and not a word was wasted.

Another interesting story. Gee uses their collected stories to get out of a dangerous situation. The tigers are such interesting characters, and the feel more like a different culture than a different species. It is amazing how differently a story can seem with small changes, and history can be forever changed by the emphasis on different aspects.
