"This is how you tell this story to a tiger..."

This is a story about stories, how they change in the telling depending on the audience and how things are lost or altered because of that. The three tiger siblings are a great way to show how important the audience plays a role, as I did feel that Sinh Cam was more fond and would have been willing to let Shih go after telling the human version of the story.
Really, this is a story about historiography - tracking those changes, like how the tiger's version is much more romantic, though also more brutal. Because what is marriage except reciting poetry at one another and making sure the other is fed first?

"Then tigers" does describe the ending though. It's rather abrupt and doesn't have that twist, the sudden gathering of threads to form a tapestry that the first novella in this series had.

did not stick the ending but still extremely enjoyable. loving this series of novellas and the world building and high fantasy concepts (and low stakes) that come with it. starting to really warm up to the characters and extremely impressed with the character work that nghi vo can do in a such a short amount of pages. very excited to read more

Yeah, I think I'm really going to like making my slow way through this novella series. Vo's writing style managed to sweep me away immediately, and the interesting little story kept me reading until I finished basically in one sitting. I look forward to seeing where Chih goes next.
