If you know me, you know I’ve read almost every steamy Persephone & Hades book out there. But Rachel Alexander’s series remains my favorite, because they feel the most true to the Ancient Greek time period. Her research is unparalleled, and I can almost believe this is how everything went down if these myths were real. (Plus the sexy scenes are juuuust right.) After a long wait, we finally have Book 3 in this series.

75 years have passed since The Pomegranate Agreement, and despite being separated 6 months every year, Hades and Persephone’s marriage is in a good place. (Hades finds time to visit when he can.) However, despite the mixed messages they’ve received about their ability to have children, they still have yet to conceive. In a last-ditch attempt, they attend a fertility rite led by a hierophant hymnist known as…Orpheus.

This book broke me and then pieced me back together. A warning, this book deals with fertility issues and miscarriages. But the way Rachel deals with these issues is in such a loving way. And you really want the world to burn when you find out the factions working against H&P and their allies.

My only quibble is that I did find the book a bit too long, with perhaps a few too many POVs. But once a Certain Thing happens I could NOT put this book down, I was so anxious to find out what happens next. I adore this series so much, and hope we don’t have to wait as long for Book 4!!
