This is the first book I’ve read with a gay transmasc t4t relationship. I’m in a gay transmasc t4t relationship, and found myself relating to SO many moments throughout the book. Jules’ anxiety about being a man and how he’s perceived, Casper returning home near the end and being deadnamed and misgendered and just having to brush it off, the way they find each other and immediately bond, the “does he really like me, am I too much of a burden?” relationship thoughts you have when you’re worried you’re too annoying to be loved. It’s such a fun, heart-wrenching, unapologetically trans narrative that I really had trouble putting down. I can’t even begin to rave about the art, which is the reason I bought the book in the first place. I’m so glad I bought this book on a whim at Small Press Expo last month, and even happier that I’ve finally read it.
This book fills me with so much joy but also makes me want to cry, because I just feel so SEEN by the author. It makes me want to make my own trans art. It makes me fall in love with my boyfriend all over again. I can’t recommend this enough. Required reading for transmascs.
