Better as a reference than something to read cover to cover. You can tell it was published in 1942 by the author's comments on culture, but mercifully those are rare. I have no idea why there's a tiny section on Norse mythology at the end though.

Little embellishment and told quite plainly. The way she told each myth was often repetitive. I must also say a lot of the myths are unsurprisingly very disparaging toward women. I learned some things at the same time that I was refreshed on certain myths. I didn’t like how this was organized, though, not being chronological at all and jumping all over the place to the point where it was very confusing. I was still mostly entertained so I’d give it 2.5 stars, rounded to 3.

A good read, a nice introduction to Greek or Classical European Mythology, seeing as it also touches upon Roman and Norse Mythology.

Whilst I enjoyed it, I think the prose is a little dated, at times it felt hard going but the tales were enjoyable. If I were to read up on Greek Myhtology again I would feel prepared enough to progress onto The Greek Myths by Robert Graves.
