It was entirely too long. It needed a good editor. 500 pages would have been plenty.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read and felt it was a perfect balance of suspense, soft/mild horror, historical fiction and romance. I really quickly fell into a comfort with the characters and found them relatable, as well as enjoying the plot unfolding alongside the person-driven stories. The ending ripped me up and had me wishing for many versions with alternate realities.

Size of the book is daunting but the story itself is captivating. This book had me transformed into a blubbering mess by the last page.

Stephen King is a master of pop fiction. This 850 page book was a quick read because the story propelled me to keep reading. I did take a long break in the middle of this book though because it was just too thick to take on vacation with me- not a beach read! When I got back I struggled a little to pick up where I left off. Once I was back in the groove however, I finished the rest of the story quickly. 

At first, I thought it was going to be a three-star read. The ending is what raised the score a little. It was just so sweet.

This book was so much more than I expected at the start... Loveable characters you are rooting for, incredible placemaking and a ticking timeline to build suspense. Lest you think this is too long (as I did), know it's slow at points but absolutely worth it.

This book had a grip on me that would not let go. I absolutely loved this book. I felt so connected to Jake as I was reading this, feeling his emotions, and my heart absolutely broke with everything he went through. Jake will be a character that I probably will never forget.
