When I started this series, I was all about the mysteries and wasn’t too, too enamored with Sebastian. With each book, I become less interested in the mystery and more interested in the personal story. Now, I could be happy with just following Sebastian and Hero around.
The secondary and tertiary characters can be a little hard to keep straight still (the men, not the women), but that doesn’t diminish my enjoyment. On to the next.

It's not my fault I really like CS Harris' books. They're quick, intriguing reads with a good blend of history, mystery, action, and romance.

Loved this one and the narrator continues to be excellent!! Only draw back is the potential love triangle- I fell for Sebastian and Kat (childhood sweethearts torn apart but destined to be) but they’re done, right? And now he moves on and maybe falls for Hero but Kat most likely will always be in the background so that makes me anxious as a romance reader at heart.

However much I like Hero, I'm not keen on the B plot surrounding her. Ah well. The mystery itself was a little less dark than some of the others, though there were plenty of side bits to provide the dark and gruesome.

I'm enjoying this series more and more as it goes on. The historical detail continues to be perfect without being too distracting from the plot. The mysteries continue to be involving and puzzling. And the character interactions and relationships get more and more fascinating, if some of the details border a little on soap opera-esque. But it's a soap opera I want to keep watching. I'm dying to see how this develops. The author has done a fantastic and rare job of finding a way to keep the series interesting through several books.
