I had trouble getting through the first half, until I realized I simply couldn't stand the voice that narrated Margot's chapters. I ended up switching to the Dutch version and then finished it within 2 days.

The story itself is beautiful. The ending is obviously sad, but it made sense within the story and any other ending would have ruined the point of the book. Both of the main characters are so lovely, and so are many of the side characters. This book is not a page turner, but it was definitely worth my time.

I started off trying to do this as a buddy read, but I didn’t finish it in time for the discussion. This was a really good book, but it’s heavy. Even though I knew the ending, I still cried the entire last three chapters. It makes you feel all the feels, and you really come to love the characters and wish for a miracle. But I think that’s part of the magic of this book, is the expected outcome happens but you love the characters anyways.

3.5⭐️ on audio. I really expected to love this so much more and regret choosing audio for this one. The story was very sweet and I adored the characters, especially Lenni. Oh sweet spunky girl, you have my heart.

This book took me a long time to finish, partly my own doing, which could be why it only got 3 stars from me. This book was definitely enjoyable, but not a page turner. I liked the premise of Margot and Lenni becoming unlikely friends due to their heath circumstances. Margot’s look back on life was interesting but nothing crazy. I didn’t love how everything about Lenni, who was in fact the narrator, felt like we were being kept in the dark and not getting the whole truth.
I definitely don’t regret reading it, but not sure if I would recommend.
