I so wanted to love this book! Everything set this book up to be amazing, including the writing, but we never made it to the ending. It was predictable, lack luster, and vague. The author did a lot of off stage things, like Nelly sees a name that makes her understand something but we never know the name or exactly how she connected it. I thought it was a decent book but so disappointed by the ending.

I had a really hard time following who was who and what was going on. I still liked the characters and powered through to finish its 500+ pages…but I’m not sure I’d recommend it.

Figured it out early on but still enjoyed the story and the ride nonetheless. So glad I read this book!

A great read for Black History month. I loved the writing, but the plot dragged in the middle. Felt like there were too many characters introduced and then abandoned. I spotted the end result halfway through but still needed to finish. Do hope for more from this author.
