This is a strong 3 because the plot was unique to me and there was a strong uncertainty throughout the entire short story concerning the real reason the protagonist did the things he did.

2.5 stars. I was online looking to download another ghost story related to a book club read, when I came across this free short story. I finished this book and thought it was fine. The writing was good, but the ending did not completely surprise me or scare me (and I was reading this at about 2 am when I couldn't sleep)-
Spoiler when the woman baking cookies was killed, I knew she (and the others killed) must be planning to do something bad.

Short, but with a punch.

What would you do for the family you love? How far would you go to bring them back from death? Joe Hart's narrator opens his front door one day and suddenly finds himself answering that question...

I enjoyed the heck out of this. The fright- (and faith-) driven murder spree, the palpable fear, the reveal at the end: all one great little package. I was disappointed when I reached the end--will definitely be reading more by this author.

How far would you go to protect your family? A mysterious stranger throws a man's life into disarray, giving him an ultimatum that puts his families life at stake. This is a well-written tale, creepy to the end, and the author deals with the struggles of the protagonist well as he tries to justify his actions. He could have made it much longer, and kept my interest. I changed my mind after writing the review, and gave it an extra star.

This story had my pulse pounding from the very beginning! I really enjoyed how it ended because I thought it was going to go a completely different way!

Well thank god this was a short story because it was so predictable. Haven't we seen this cliché so many times that it is so boring. The writing was nice though but the story was boring.

Short short story that wasn't really scary but a decent good-night read.

Exhilarating tale of horror! Gripped me right from the beginning and didn't let go until the last line! Awesome twist at the end, by the way. I love it just the way it is, but part of me wishes it could have been longer. That was my second and definitely not my last story by Joe Hart, both of which I purchased for free today for my Kindle. Most excellent freebie coming highly recommended!
