Smrtící vzdělání je má první kniha od Naomi Novik a nepřesvědčila mě, abych si od autorky přečetla i další její díla.

Čarodějná škola bez profesorů a s číhajícími nestvůrami je skvěle vymyšlená. Chybu neměla ani kouzla a čáry, i když čtenář musel zapojit mozkové závity, aby to všechno pobral.

I really enjoyed this quirky book, but understand some of the criticisms it has faced. I considered picking up the second one but I'm not sure if I am that invested. I can honestly say though that this was a very unique book with a unique main character voice and I thoroughly enjoyed it and the worldbuilding

It was very repetitive about explaining how the school was deadly, the main character didn’t have friends, and how she didn’t like Orion. It still felt like I was reading the beginning of the story even though I was already over 100 pages in.

4.5 stars. Definitely a book that I could not put down as all I wanted to do was to see what happened next. It had a beautiful progression and the characters felt well fleshed out with complex motives and emotions.
