If you like vampire romances, you will probably like this.

Know that there are sure few sex scenes, however. Pretty good ones. The vampires are more Lestat but modern and they even pay on popular vampire books and things. I enjoyed it pretty well and it passed the time on a long plane ride (took me about 2 1/2 hours total).

How would you feel if your "master" had told you you had to come home from abroad and settle down in some little Podunk town forever? Have to leave the shimmering twilights of London, New York, and Paris just to be tied to some mortal girl for her entire life.
Or what if you were born in the wrong year and now you have been chosen to spend your entire life chained to some vampire you have never met and you will never get out of this town you have always wanted to escape. How about never see your family again?
I'll tell you how. You'd be beyond mad. Detesting the other half that you now have to cope with until you can either escape or die. Maybe there is a loop hole in this plan, maybe you can get away, maybe the death of the tiny human isn't that bad. Or maybe just maybe as many years as she has will be the best of your life.
That all depends on if the best of a bad situation can be made or maybe the stone wall around both of their hearts will never come down.
Plot your escape with Sabine and Remy in this alluring tale.

Twilight had more going for it than this story.

One of my favorite vampire romance series. We are introduced to Sabine who seems like an everyday ordinary high school student but the town she lives in has its secrets and on her 18th birthday she will be summoned to fulfill her destiny, which will be to marry a vampire and help keep the town’s secrets safe. One evening while Sabine is out contemplating her destiny and wanting to run away, she meets Remy, the vampire she is destined to be with. She finds herself scared of him, he taunts her, he is in her mind and dreams, and she is extremely attracted to him though she doesn’t want to be. We follow these two in their journey to fulfill their destinies, try to tolerate each tolerate each other, and eventually come to realize they may even be falling in love. The secrets of the town is starting not to make much sense to Remy and Sabine so they are curious as to what is really happening and it ends with Remy leaving with his maker.

Honestly, I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Is it predictable? Yeah. Did the main love interest annoy me most of the time? Mhm. Did I find the female protagonist naive often? Definitely. But did I like this for what it was? Hell yeah I did. I actually ended up liking Remy more towards about 67% (yeah I know). He grew on me and his sarcastic, annoying, asshole behavior turned into something witty, funny, and kinda loveable by the end.

Sabine had a bad case of I-want-nothing-to-do-with-you-and-I-hate-you-but-please-love-me syndrome. It was the most annoying, cringy thing just seeing her randomly think "oh maybe he'll just give me a chance so he could get to know how I really feel". Excuse me ma'am, but you've only know him for like 3 days. Hold up. Thankfully she didn't think like that all the time, so it was bearable whenever it did happen (which eventually I got used to more towards the middle).

I also wanna say that this is the first in a trilogy, but I have no desire to read the next installments. I felt really happy with how this ended and think it works great as a stand-alone. Yeah some things would probably be cleared up or answered in the sequels cough Bastian cough, but reading the blurbs for the next novels didn't make me go "yeah I gotta pick up the next one and continue their story". Like no. Not necessary. I recommend this as a stand-alone, but I have a gut feeling all the wonderful development of a simple love story in this first book would cease to exist if onewere to continue.

Brilliant read. Took me two hours to read his book I did not put it down.
I loved the blossoming friendship between remy and Sabine. Although it was hatred at first it grew into something lovely. The sexy parts where worth the wait although a little bit more detail I would have liked.
Please may I live in willow creek and friend myself a vampire lol. Excellent read starting the second book as I type this.

Pretty good

This was rather very good book for being a short vampire story. I never thought Subine would give into Remy. Now on to book two.

I mean I dont know how to say this but I didn't much care for the heroine or even the storyline but this sexy sarcastic English vampire …. him, I absolutely adore and hence the 4 star review

Sabine was an average girl in a small town, but this small town had vampires openly living in the community. On her 18th birth day Sabine was one of many born in the same year, holding their breathe. Why you ask? Because Willow Creek was a community protected by the vampires in exchange for one human every ten years, picked on their 18th birthday to be blood mates. Sabine wanted to graduate high school and explore the world while painting on the side. She had hopes and dreams and on her 18th birthday they were destroyed because she was picked. Remy is the one sent to protect Sabine and she will eventually be his. There is a bit of jealousy and hiding true feelings. It was a good read for a paranormal vampire story.

The author did such a good job writing Remy as a creep and perv that it turned me off the book..
