A Crown of Hopes and Sorrows by Nicole Bailey is book two in the Apollo Ascending series. Let me tell you, this book was light on the hope and heavy on the sorrow 😆. Nicole is now going to be paying for my therapy sessions lol.

We pick up with Apollo and Hyacinth as they scheme to figure out how to overthrow the high gods of Olympus. Jealousy threatens to rip them apart, when the Wind God Zephyrus tries to claim Hyacinth for his own. The jealousy was actually kind of endearing at first until Apollo took it too far. I just wanted to throttle both of them in this book.

We get Temi chapters! Temi goes on a mission with Pip and Val to seek Sappho to find answers about who her father is. Things take a very stressful turn, and it's just action after action after action. We also get to see Pip and Val's relationship be addressed, and boy did I want to shake Val! Boy needed to get it together.

This is one of those books where you go in knowing it's going to be a tragedy, but still get destroyed by the ending. It's They Both Die at the End all over again 😂. I love the way Nicole writes. It's so poetic, I found myself tabbing lines just because they were pretty and resonated with me. I also love how she uses the god's names as curses, especially the ones about Hera. Speaking of, dis bitch, Hera is the fucking worst.

If you haven't read the first book yet, get on it! Great mythology, great story, great romance, and characters.
