I will have to say this, I didn't enjoy this book nearly as much as I did A Veil of Gods and Kings.
A Crown of Hopes and Sorrows is a well written book if you are looking for something to read in a light-hearted manner while enjoying the various plot twists and turns the author throws at you. It is however very different from the greek mythologies it takes its inspiration from. If one can overlook the glaring discrepancies, it's a good book!

But even with that, the plot seems marginally weaker when compared to book 1. There was a lot of focus on what was in my personal opinion, unneeded misunderstandings and troubles which could have been solved if the characters communicated with each other instead of talking over them.

There are parts I heavily enjoyed though, and the last 30% of the book pulled my rating up drastically. Delon is a new favourite character and I would die for Hecate and Persephone.

All in all, I am still definitely looking forward to the rest of the series.

Following the storyline between Hyacinth and Apollo, I enjoyed the angst and the love shared between them. I felt the anger Hyacinth felt at Apollo’s reckless move and the powerful pain that resulted from Hyacinth’s fall. The storylines interwoven in their story were enthralling, but were not my favorite parts of the book. The ending really took the cake and made my heart swell with happiness that it would not be hopeless heartbeat.
