It was very slow. I found myself putting it down many times not really caring to read on. Sadly I am never one to DNF a book so I powered through. The world and people and concept of the book are great and fascinating. I feel like it could’ve been even better and more amazing had it picked up sooner or had more crazy truth bombs then the slowly agonizing truth that started to play out. I’m interesting to see where the next book goes as we’re kind of life on a cliff hanger and I’m just hoping that the second book is faster paced and more engaging and she starts becoming her own person.

The book was confusing. I was trying not to skim but the book felt boring at times. I grasped the idea of the plot/the romance/the forbidden love. I didn't connect with the characters. Maybe this could have been executed differently or edited down to less pages. We needed more of the side-characters. I don't know. I forced myself to finish this one. It was OK, it was really confusing.

I’m just confused, probably a good book but I have no idea what’s going on.

i always finish the books i start, but i have never been so close to DNFing a book. this is a cheap knock-off of all “romantasy” books that have been popular over the last two years. the character development is shoddy, and i felt no deep connection to either of the main characters. the author throws “twists” into the story in a way that make zero sense to me. don’t waste your time! i’m sure the author has other good series, but this one missed the mark for sure.

wasn’t great wasn’t bad. read this straight after fourth wing and saw too many similarities in writing styles and characters for it to be a coincidence 🫣 that’s my only answer for not wanting to finish the series but overall not horrible

I’m probably going to go back to it, but not in the correct mood.  Confused a bit
