Reading 'Holding up the Universe' was a challenge. Keeping track of the characters, why so many? And the pacing - so slow and predictable. I'm unsure why there were so many different characters. Was it an attempt for us to relate to Jack's prosopagnosia? I'm unsure. Also, some of the scenes with Libby were cringeworthy in themselves. I found the characters had zero chemistry and felt as if they were forced to end up together. I had previously read and loved 'All the Bright Places,' so this book was lacking in comparison. I finished the book feeling dissatisfied and disappointed.

From the beginning, this book pulled at my heart strings. Jennifer tells a beautiful story between two beautiful people. Watching both Libby and Jack grow throughout the book was super sweet and inspiring. Watching these characters come into themselves and reach their full potential was absolutely amazing. The writing was beautiful as well. The only thing iIm not necessarily a fan of is the amount of cussing, how vulgar the descriptions were of libby, and how Jack only remembers Libby. (Its giving "I can fix him/She fixed me"). But otherwise I have no complaints of this book and I think it is a truly beautiful story. Jennifer has done it yet again.

i’m rating this a 4 star read bc it’s cute okay ???? it was £1.99 at  the oxfam check out , and it looked sweet AND IT WAS !!! the perpetual cycle of grief is so well described in this book and it was nice to read a romance where that was a heavy weight on a character but it didn’t bring her down . i’ve never heard of face blindness before this and it seems so scary , but to me it was explained well and w the right focus on jack as a person instead of his illness coming first . chronic illnesses (whether mental or physical) were so well woven into this book !! the only reason it’s not rated higher is bc by the end i was kinda confused as to why libby kept getting mad at jack lol but i think that’s bc i didn’t concentrate or something .. idk . anyway jack+libby for life sorry for the person i’ll be when the movie comes out TRUST ME DADDY🤞🏼🗣️‼️
