I'm hoping for more books from this duo. Nice job.

This is a really beautiful picture book about the author's family's/mestizo beliefs about life as a circle, the value of one's elders and the natural-ness of death. The art is absolutely stunning; Gonzalez blends the edges of figures and colors to make them seem lit up with light, and gives the colors a sort of translucent feel that visually emphasizes how people are connected to nature and the rest of the world. Gonzalez creates such a dazzingly beautiful landscape and a vibrant, loving relationship between grandchild and grandfather that the book instantly pulls in its readers. Wonderful.
