I don't know how to rate this book because I don't actually know if I enjoyed it. I can say, however, that it was one of the most evocative books I've read.

The story at a surface level is about 2 young people who meet and immediately experience a magnetic force drawing them together. We never learn much about the love interest but the main character (I've just realised I don't know their names

It's a beautiful love story, with a heavy theme of identity, blackness and trauma set in south London. Really delicious prose that reads like poetry.
However, sometimes the repetition was a bit much, although at other parts it was hitting nicely. It is not exactly my cup of tea as in writing style, but I can appreciate it. A quick pleasent read, that managed to include a lot of heavy themes.
