This series just isn’t for me… Oh man, I really want to love the Caraval series, I’m honestly trying, but it’s just not working for me. I found this book pretty boring—the only interesting part for me was Jacks. Like I said before, I’m only reading this series for Once Upon a Broken Heart, so I still have a little bit of hope. I actually really love the world itself, but why does the book drag on for so long?? The ending did surprise me though, which is why I’ll still finish the series. Wish me luck!

I absolutely loved Tella up until the ending of this book 😔 that’s why it would’ve been a 5 star but I’m taking off one star due to Tella’s annoying reactions at the end
SPOILERS:
I really don’t understand why Tella made such a big deal of Dante leaving her on the stairs when HE was the one who saved her and assured her that he loves her? Girl you won the game due to his help and he had his reasons to leave, it’s really not that deep and it sounds more like unnecessary drama created so that the following book has some plot. I was a big shipper of Dante & Tella but tbh now I just hope for a good ending for Dante in the next book Finale

Also why are all Caraval Men so hot??

It took some time, but I have finally finished the book. It was a perfect autumn read. The last 150 pages was read in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. I just needed to know how it would end and now I can’t wait to read the next book!

First off, booktok, please don’t hate me. This book put me in such a reading slump and it was just so difficult to get through. Part of the struggle is due to the fact that it took me a WHILE to start to like Tella. Jacks was kind of a fun character, but the reveal of who Legend was really predictable (in my opinion), and I just wasn’t engaged in the story. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think I will read Finale. If you think you can convince me otherwise, please share your reasoning because I am willing to give it a try if enough people/reasons convince me it’s worth it.

I was a little bit sad that we didn’t get more of Scarlett and Julian in Legendary, but it was also fun to read more about Tella! And I was SO excited to finally meet Jacks! He really stole my heart (😉) and I only wish he had played a bigger role. I didn’t care much for Dante in Caraval, but I did end up liking him more in this one.

Overall I enjoyed this book! It felt similar to Caraval since they were technically playing another game, but I liked the addition of the Fates and Deck of Destiny. It added some extra information and deepened the world building.

I’m not sure if Legend’s identity was supposed to be a surprise at the end, but I had guessed it pretty early, even before Tella started to figure it out, so it wasn’t as impactful as I would have liked it to be.

Also, Tella gets carried around by not one, but two attractive guys basically the whole time, so honestly she’s winning in my book 😂
