3.5 STARS! Wow. I love Stephanie's writing style, and I love her stories and characters. This book brought so many surprises. I said in one of my progress updates that if I found out Dante was Legend I would come for you, Stephanie. Unfortunately (or fortunately? it gave so much depth to the story), that came true. But, I will hold off on coming for you, because the ending gave me hope for Tella and Dante/Legend. But if they are not endgame, I fear I will have to make good on my threat. Again, I love that we are getting to know Jacks in this series. Good thing I bought Legendary and Finale together, because now I can hop right into Finale. Here I come!

Finally, I’ve finished Legendary! The first 250 pages took me two weeks to read, and the final 250 pages I finished today 😂 I was clearly not in the right mood when I started it, because I simply couldn’t put it down when I read the last half. I do however still like the first book more, and I think the reason for that is because you get to experience the game for the first time. It’s all so magical, mysterious and beautiful. Where as in this installment, we go into the story already knowing how brutal, unforgiving and cruel the game is. So we don’t get as enchanted like we did the first time around. But that holds a sort of beauty in itself. We know the tricks and scheming, so we try to figure out the double meaning behind every spoken word, and discover even more of Caravals secrets with it. I do like Donatellas character, she’s so much more bold and outspoken compared to Scarlett. Which truly is a breath of fresh air. She’s no damsel in distress, and can hold her own. I loved the introduction of Jacks, who many of you may know from the OUABH trilogy. Such a brazen and cruel character, but who I suspect is hiding some deep emotions under the surface. Garber is incredible at creating a spectacular world with her beautiful writing, and it’s very enjoyable to read her texts.
We get left off on quite the cliffhanger, so I will have to read Finale soon! ♥️♠️♦️♣️

[b:Legendary|36329818|Legendary (Caraval, #2)|Stephanie Garber|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1506803153l/36329818._SY75_.jpg|54501288] is book two of the Caraval series and I loved that [a:Stephanie Garber|14137787|Stephanie Garber|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1437192619p2/14137787.jpg] focused this installment on Tella. This time she is playing the game, and just as with Scarlett, there is a lot at stake. This is a trilogy that you definitely have to read in order to get the full effect, but I thought Garber did an excellent job of catching the reader up on what happened in Caraval as well. Obviously not to the full extent you would get by reading it, but just enough that you can remember what happened or aren’t fully lost if you pick up this book first.
Once again, the audiobook is narrated by Rebecca Soler, and once again she absolutely crushed it. I am just really impressed with the way she brings the characters and Caraval to life and she makes you feel like you are in the center of the action. The end of this book was a little heartbreaking while also being a little vague which left things open for the conclusion. There is lots of action as well as some violence in Legendary and not only is the sister theme strong, the hunt for their mom is also front and center. Read this if you love slow burn romance with a love triangle, female leads that are always honest with themselves, and complex characters that jump off the page.
