Definitely my fave Discworld book so far!
I love Death he's just the cutest!
While I was reading this I was like - I feel like this is the perfect series to introduce kids to when you want to introduce fantasy.
As someone who has some inklings of thanatophobia I thought this was a really nice book to combat that.
I could totally read all the Death series books now but I'm trying to read them in order lol

Loving my decision to collect these beautiful hardback additions of Terry Pratchett 's discworld series as it has given me the motivation to rediscover some of my favourite fantasy stories.
In this tale Death decides to take on a young apprentice called Mort. At first you are given the impression it is so he can be romantically matched up with Death's adopted daughter but you soon discover that Death is lonely. He's never had a chance to live and has actually chosen Mort as his replacement.
Throw in a princess in distress, a randy wizard, a drunk elephant and some bacon and eggs and what you have is a delightfully whimsical tale where Death tries out what it means to be human.
